For everyone who asked, there is an audiobook version performed by me, you can find it on Audible, Kobo, Google Books, iTunes or wherever else you get audiobooks online. You can also get it for free through Overdrive and your local public library. I spontaneously break into song throughout, not unlike an episode of Vinyl Tap with Randy Bachman.
Bedroom Rapper is the story of how I became a rapper – how a young Black kid from Edmonton broke into and survived the Canadian music industry. It’s also an alternative history of hip-hop and Canadian music in general, a reflection on the music scenes and moments that shaped me and my career.
I discuss some of the finer points of making the book in this interview with CBC Books. I also had the privilege of being interviewed about Bedroom Rapper on CBC q, which will be airing this morning. Last night, Ron MacLean gave the book a shout out on Sportsnet after the game and compared my writing to the Avalanche/Oilers series, which is a huge, somewhat perplexing compliment.

Congratulations on the book! Read the first chapter last night and really enjoyed your writing and story telling. Excited to read the rest!!
Fantastic read! Loved the shoutouts to Chaps, CFCR, and Saskatoon, as well as lot of other important indie hip-hop and music scenes of the 00s. I borrowed this from the library, but will probably buy it just to lend to friends.
